Introduction

The planning system has been in a constant state of change in recent years in response to the need to promote housing growth and the continued influence of localism which has increased public interest and participation in planning decision making.

This five hour in-person course will give you an understanding of the essential principles and concepts that underpin the planning system including who makes the decisions; how these decisions are made; what works and uses require planning permission; how development is regulated and the consequences of breaching planning controls. Other related consenting regimes will also be explored and future developments and topical issues will be considered. The course will be interactive and will use examples from practice to illustrate the content that is covered.
