Partner Misconduct Allegations - Getting the Investigation Right
Introduction
In recent years, there has been a marked change in the approach taken by law firms to allegations of partner misconduct, driven by a combination of societal change following the ‘MeToo’ movement and increased regulatory focus from the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Most firms are now aware of the need to conduct robust and independent investigations that can withstand external scrutiny and to make decisions based on the gravity of the misconduct rather than the profitability or seniority of the partner involved.
Nevertheless, firms must remain alert to a number of issues that commonly arise during investigations and which, if not handled properly, can present both legal and regulatory risks.
Presented by Beth Hale and Andrew Pavlovic of leading employment, partnership and regulatory boutique CM Murray LLP, this session will cover the key legal and regulatory considerations at each stage of the investigative process, as well as the particular issues that arise in partner and law firm investigations.
