Introduction

Occupying property, either as a freehold or leasehold owner or even a licensee, gives rise to liabilities. Duties may be owed to others occupying the property including employees, to visitors whether or not they attend at your invitation and others including trespassers.

As a surveyor, you may occupy property, manage it for others or visit and report upon it. You need to consider your duties and who owes a duty to you
