Mistakes in Pension Scheme Rules
Introduction
The rules of pension schemes are often complicated, voluminous and have undergone many changes over a number of years.
Given the sometimes-strict approach the law takes to formalities when it comes to pension rules, it is perhaps not surprising when (actual or potential) mistakes are identified.
Sometimes the mistakes are insignificant and have no impact on the administration of the scheme. However, on other occasions the mistakes are potentially significant, and action needs to be considered to try to correct the mistakes or at least mitigate their consequences.
