Introduction

Hybrid working is now an established feature of the modern workplace, but the flexibility it provides has also created new legal, regulatory and cybersecurity risks for employers.

With employees working across home and office environments, businesses face a wider range of potential vulnerabilities, from insecure home networks and personal devices to fragmented IT controls and increased exposure to cyberattacks. At the same time, employers must continue to meet their data protection, cybersecurity, employment and health and safety obligations, despite having less direct control over the working environment.

This practical new virtual classroom seminar examines the key legal and digital risks associated with hybrid working and considers whether traditional workplace safeguards remain effective in a more dispersed working environment. It will look at the growing threat of cyberattacks designed not only to obtain data but also to disrupt business operations, including ransomware attacks affecting critical systems and service availability.

Using recent incidents, regulatory developments and case examples, the session will provide practical guidance on identifying vulnerabilities, reducing exposure to liability and maintaining effective control over confidential information and data. It will also consider the employment law implications of hybrid working, including flexible working requests, health and safety responsibilities and the need for appropriate risk assessments and policies.

The session will be particularly relevant to in-house legal counsel, compliance officers, HR professionals, IT risk and cybersecurity teams, employment lawyers, data protection officers and senior management and operational leaders responsible for managing legal, regulatory, people and technology risks within hybrid working environments.
