Introduction

As we live in a time of global families with global assets, it is vital to understand how the concept of domicile can impact on the administration of estates including:

  • The devolution of the estate
  • The amount of inheritance tax that is paid and in which jurisdiction
  • Whether a claim can be brought under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975

This live broadcast session is aimed at private client professionals and will help dispel at least three commonly held misconceptions:

  • That domicile of origin is simply where the deceased was born
  • That the deceased must have lived in the country of domicile
  • That you only need to look to the deceased's parents to establish the deceased's domicile
