Although assignments and sub-lettings are common features of commercial leases, they can give rise to complexity due to evolving case law, statutory requirements, and the competing interests of landlords and tenants.
This virtual classroom seminar will cover the process of assignments and sub-letting, common pitfalls, and matters to be aware of when handling such matters.

- The process and manner of carrying out assignments and sub-lettings (from each of the respective parties’ viewpoints)
- Common requirements and when/whether these should be agreed
- Case law and statutory requirements with a particular focus on covenant strength, AGAs and requirements for ‘reasonableness’
- Landlord’s decision to provide a licence to assignment/underletting
- Documenting the agreements and drafting points
