Applications to Revoke LPAs & Discharge Deputyship Orders - Develop Your Skills
Speaker
Introduction
Property and financial affairs applications make up the bulk of the work in the Court of Protection.
A significant number of the applications that turn contentious are those applications seeking to revoke Lasting Powers of Attorney or to discharge deputyship orders.
Whilst growing in volume and frequency, such applications remain a mystery to many practitioners working in the field, including those working in the public sector who have safeguarding responsibilities for those with eligible needs in their area.
If you already work within the Court of Protection field and are familiar with non-contentious applications, this webinar will enhance your skills, enabling you to confidently bring or defend revocation applications. For those working in the public sector, it will provide the tools to safeguard those under your care from potential abuse.
You will be expected to have an existing knowledge of the framework governing the creation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and deputyships, as well as the Property and Financial Affairs case allocation pathway.
What You Will Learn
This webinar will cover the following:
- A brief refresher of the statutory provisions relevant to revocation applications
- The principles arising from key and recent case law in this area, including CL v Swansea Bay University Health Board & Ors
- The most common types of revocation applications with practical examples
This pre-recorded webinar will be available to view from Monday 12th October 2026
