An Introduction to Corporate Fraud - Practical Steps to Reduce Risk
Our awareness of fraud may be greater through news and press coverage, but statistics show that the problem is still there.
The effects of fraud can be devastating, robbing individuals and businesses of their money. It's committed online, face-to-face, by telephone, by post, with new methods of fraud appearing all the time.
The abuse of identity details accounts for more than one in two of all frauds in the latest CIFAS Fraudscape, meaning that data now has its own intrinsic value. Portsmouth University’s ‘Financial Cost of Fraud 2018’, reveals a national fraud pandemic totalling £110bn a year in the UK.
On a more positive note the presence of anti-fraud controls and training is notably linked with significant decreases in the cost and duration of insider fraud according to the latest ACFE Report to the Nations (Global Fraud Survey, 2018).
Fighting fraud is a challenge for us all - prepare yourself.
