AML & Client Due Diligence Effective Governance in Financial Services
Speaker
Introduction
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) expects firms to implement effective systems and controls to prevent financial crime, supported by clear accountability, meaningful senior management oversight and robust customer identification, verification and ongoing monitoring processes. Effective governance ensures these controls are properly designed, resourced, challenged and kept under review.
This new in-depth virtual classroom seminar will examine anti-money laundering (AML) and client due diligence (CDD) through a governance lens, exploring how firms oversee, direct and evidence an effective financial crime framework under the UK regulatory regime.
It will cover key AML principles, the application of different levels of CDD, and the ownership and approval of risk assessments. Participants will explore how to assess customer risk, identify beneficial ownership and recognise red flags associated with money laundering and terrorist financing.
Drawing on good practices identified by the FCA, the session will examine practical ways to strengthen governance and demonstrate effective oversight and challenge through documentation, audit trails, decision-making records and clear lines of accountability.
